How long have you been in business?
Since May of 1998. We are in our 14th year at this location. We offer 8,100 sqft of relaxation.
What is your primary product or service?
The Canyon is a full service day spa. Services include: Massage, European facials, peels, microdermabrasion, waxing, pedicures, manicures, gel nails, Shelac for nails, body soaks, salt glow treatments, Medi-Spa services by a doctor - Botox, Fillers, various laser services.
Large parties are welcome (we can service up to 26 clients at a time). For your convenience we have a tea room, relaxation area, steam room, men’s and women’s locker rooms.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I became interested in the day spa business over time. I played football through college, where I experience sports injuries. So, I found that I had an interested in helping others with their pains and hurts. After graduating from college with a Business degree, I went to grad school where I finished my MBA.
But, as life sometimes goes I didn’t initially seek work in the spa business. Instead, I worked as a financial analysis for a large Oil and Gas company in Houston (you might have heard of the company…ENRON). After leaving this position I eventually moved to the Nashville area in early 1996 where I studied to be a licensed massage therapist (as mentioned above I was interested in helping others manage their pain). I started Blue River Canyon Day Spa in May 1998 with the desire to help people relax, revive and rejuvenate themselves from the fast pace life we all live. Over the years the spa has expanded three times to our current size of 8,100 square feet.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
The Canyon differentiates itself from others in several ways. First, lets state what we are not; we are not a hair salon (calling itself a day spa). For the most part salons are in the business of doing hair services not spa services. Usually, a salon offers only one or two spa services in a non-relaxing salon environment. So, when you are looking for a relaxing environment, choose a business that meets your needs for relaxation.
Secondly, our spa services are designed to maximize your relaxation time with us. Come early or stay late and use our locker rooms, relaxation area and steam room. No matter if there is one client receiving services or twenty-six, our service scheduled is designed so that the time spent with clients are maximized (no watering down services to get more services crammed into the day).
Also, for your information, the Canyon’s one-hour massage is sixty minutes long. Some businesses that offer a one-hour massage may only give you fifty minutes and call it an hour service.
Finally, we strive to treat each client as a VIP.
