How long have you been in business?
Biocontrol Network was conceived in January of 1995 and the website went live in June of 1995.
What is your primary product or service?
Originally, our primary product line was beneficial insects and organisms, good bugs that eat bad bugs some say. Today, our product line has been built to cover a wide range of products generally natural biologically based products developed to control home and crop pests. We also carry a variety products to mitigate bird problems, animal issues and pet issues, including traps, repellents and various sonic, olfactory and visual scare tactics.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
The owner, Eric William Acosta, had been active for years as a sound engineer, migrating into system design and installation. In January of 1995 a close friend introduced him to the fascinating world of biological control, and Eric bought a few books on the subject and started doing independent research, where he discovered that this field although hundreds or maybe thousands of years old, had only scratched the surface in the U.S. Being an avid supporter of eco/conservation movements, decided to try his hand at being part of the solution.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
We offer eco friendly alternatives to conventional synthetic Lawn & Garden and agricultural products.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We have one location and we have discussed expansion, but as yet have not confirmed.
